Remember catching lightning bugs in a jar and marveling at their luminescence on a summertime evening?

Come join us illuminating the night at Glow in the Park!  to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation! This event is glutted with glow stations including UV water showers, glow powder, and foam sprayed from industrial foam machines.  This course will be lined with music and black lights to bask in your glowing glory.  We will provide glow swag to get you started -  glow sticks, glow bracelets/necklaces, pre-race glow paint, and finger LED lights! We will even have blacklight runner headlamps available!

This may be a 5k event, but you can leave your trainer watch at home and instead bring yourself, your friends, your family, or even come all out as a team and show off how you glow!  After reaching glorified glow status, you will cross the finish line to even more fun with a dance floor of neon colors galore and a live local DJ spinnin’ the hottest electronic tunes!  This is a one-of-a-kind 5k experience you won’t want to miss out on!

This event is being hosted and managed by Trivium Racing, one of the top running event, duathlon , and triathlon racing companies in the Southeast. Please visit them here to see what else they have in store….

Rockin’ Marathon Relay- Saturday May 4th (Note change of venue to WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary)

Triangle-Relay-2013_frontpage

Team up with some friends and take on a marathon! The Rockin’ Marathon Relay offers the opportunity to gather a team to conquer a full marathon, all the while enjoying music and a fun party atmosphere at the relay exchange zone! Without a doubt, this will the most fun you’ll ever have running a marathon!

Here’s how Rockin’ Marathon Relay works: every course is set up as a loop of only 1.2 – 2.2 miles, so it’s all contained in a small area (not like your typical marathon that can spread across an entire city). You and your friends create a team of 2, 3, or 4 members and then you alternate relay laps (one time around the small loop course) until the full marathon distance is completed. While one team member is out taking their turn on a lap around the course, the rest of the team is having a good time at the relay exchange zone. The exchange zone is one big party – enjoy music, food, and socialize with teammates and competitors alike – but be ready for when you next take the hand-off for your team!

For those of you who are bold enough to try the full marathon on a loop course alone, you can run the Rockin’ Marathon Relay solo!

First off, we’d like to say a big Thank You to everyone who came out to run in the first race of the Series. We hope you had a great time and enjoyed the good weather, good food and fantastic costumes! We’d also like to say thanks to everyone for supporting the Food Drive- on a goal of 300 lbs of food you all brought in 365 lbs, or the equivalent of 307 meals!! Thanks again- there are a lot of people less fortunate who will benefit from your generosity, and we appreciate it.

***Awards and T-shirts***  For those of you who did not register in time to get a T-shirt, they are being printed this week and will be available either late this week or right after Christmas. Please contact us via e-mail at rtpfitness1@gmail.com or come by RTP Fitness to get your shirt. For those of you who did not pick up your 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place award (overall as well as age group), please contact us via email or come by the club to get your award.

Next, we’d like to extend a big Thank You to all our volunteers and sponsors- without them this event would not have been possible. So a big thanks to our volunteers:

  • The NCCU Delta Sorority- special thanks to Raja and Alexis
  • Members and Friends of RTP Fitness- thanks to David Traister and Barry, aka Santa
  • Family- thanks Max!

We’d also like to extend a big thanks to our Sponsors- their help and support was critical to the event’s success and we owe them a lot, so a big thanks to:

  •  The House- special thanks to Jeremy and Ramsey for the wraps, coffee, and water- please check them out when you get a chance, their wings are fantastic
  • Complete Chiropractic- thanks to the Drs McLaughlin for their support- if you have any aches and pains, please take them up on their consult offer- check your swag bag!
  • ARC- special thanks to Reggie and Mandie for the great signs and banners, as well as the unique t-shirt design. If you like what you saw for the printing, please give them a try
  • Nissan Next- special thanks to Kylene and Co for the gifts and the warm Pathfinder seats!
  • Craftsmen Direct- thanks to Lee Smoak for his longtime support- please give them a ring for any of your home improvement needs
  • Cytosport- for their generous donations to the swag bag
  • Vitamin Shoppe- for their generous donations to the swag bag and for their longtime support
  • OneLife Screen Printing for the great shirts- thanks Brandon
  • RTP Foundation- last but certainly not least, a big thanks to Linda and Amanda for their patience, guidance and support in our first event in the Park

We’d also like to recognize and say thanks to Lt. Aleem and the Durham County Sheriff’s for their help in closing off the roads and keeping everyone safe; the Parkwood Volunteer Fire Dept for the EMT support (which thankfully we didn’t need!); Al Grandy at DOT for his guidance, and Charlie Rhodes for his patience and mentorship- thanks one and all!

Finally, we’d like to say a very special thanks to our Race Director Jen Chon, who did a fantastic job in her first race and under a tight deadline and difficult circumstances- she kept all the plates spinning no matter what we threw at her, and never lost her cool or lost that big smile for everyone. We can’t wait to see what she has in store for the next races in the Series…
